Terms and Conditions

By downloading, installing or using SafeWays Companion (operated by SafeWays UK, Company No. 17376499), you agree to these Terms and Conditions in full. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.

SafeWays Companion is a personal safety tool designed to help you feel safer when out alone or managing the safety of others. It is not a replacement for emergency services. Always call 999 in a life-threatening emergency. Do not delay calling 999 in favour of using SafeWays Companion.

SafeWays Companion is available to users aged 5 and above. Users under 16 must have their account created by a parent or guardian who provides consent for their data to be collected. Child accounts are subject to additional safeguarding restrictions and reduced data collection.

• Free Plan: £0. Includes SOS button, 1 trusted contact, live walk tracking, safe spaces finder, sound alarm, and fake call.
• SafeWalk Plus: £1.99/mo. Includes everything in the Free plan, plus community safety map, evidence capture, unlimited trusted contacts, duress PIN, shake to alert, and copy & share tracking links.
• Family Plan: £4.99/mo. Includes everything in Plus, up to 5 family members, Child Safe Mode, parent dashboard, and school run alerts.
• Military & Veteran: Free for life. Requires .mod.uk auto-verification or Veteran ID. Includes 100% free lifetime access to all SafeWalk Plus features.
• Student Plan: £9.99/yr. Annual billing only, requiring a .ac.uk or .edu email address. Includes all SafeWalk Plus features and saves over 58%.

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually depending on the selected plan. You may cancel at any time. No refunds are issued for partial billing periods already paid. Free plan features will always remain free.

By adding another person as a trusted contact you confirm that you have their knowledge and consent to receive emergency alerts and location information from you. You must not add contacts without their awareness. SafeWays Companion will send a notification email to each contact you add.

SafeWays Companion's SOS button, duress PIN, shake-to-alert, and battery mode features are designed to alert your trusted contacts. These features supplement but do not replace emergency services. Always call 999 if you are in immediate danger. SafeWays UK cannot guarantee response times from your contacts or the availability of the service at any given time.

Your location is only shared with others when you actively start a walk or trigger an emergency feature. SafeWays Companion does not access or track your location in the background at any other time.

Audio and video recordings made through the Evidence Capture feature are stored privately and only you can access them. They are automatically deleted after 30 days. You are responsible for ensuring your use of evidence capture complies with applicable laws. In the UK, recording in a public place is generally lawful.

SafeChat is a private messaging feature for communication between you and your Safety Circle. Messages are stored for 30 days then automatically deleted. SafeWays Companion forwards messages by email to contacts who do not have the app so that they never miss an important message from you.

• Do not use SafeWays Companion to harass, stalk, threaten or harm any person
• Do not submit false emergency alerts
• Do not submit false or misleading safety reports to the community map
• Do not attempt to access another user's account or data without authorisation

Violations of these rules will result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.

SafeWays Companion is provided in good faith as a personal safety aid. SafeWays UK cannot guarantee your safety or the uninterrupted availability of the service. We are not liable for any harm, loss, injury or damage arising from your use of or inability to use the application. You should always use your own judgement in any situation.

All content, branding, design and software within SafeWays Companion is the property of SafeWays UK. You may not copy, reproduce or redistribute any part of the application without our written permission.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of SafeWays Companion after updated Terms are published constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
